If you’re hiring a campervan in Sydney, Spaceships, JUCY and Wicked have city depots, but none offers pickup at the airport terminals. Arrange a separate transfer. Choose based on vehicle size, depot hours, driver eligibility, one-way route and road restrictions.
A bond is security held for the hire. An excess is the amount you could owe for covered damage; operators describe or combine these amounts differently.

Spaceships estimates a taxi or rideshare transfer from Sydney Airport to its Banksmeadow depot at 5–10 minutes, depending on traffic. Wicked estimates about 15 km and 20–25 minutes from the airport to Caringbah, subject to route and conditions. These are transfer estimates, not airport pickup services. JUCY recommends a taxi or rideshare, public transport or a drop-off.
Compare deposits and cover
Spaceships publishes a 20% booking deposit. Its current support information lists Basic Insurance with a $5,000 excess/bond, Partial with $3,000, and Stress-Free with $0. The listed Partial option costs $30 per day, capped at $1,500, and Stress-Free costs $40 per day, capped at $2,000. The 20% booking deposit is separate from the amounts listed for the stated cover options.
For JUCY bookings confirmed or amended on or after 1 May 2026, the published Crib+ bond is $3,000 with Risk Taker, $1,500 with Essentials and $0 with Comprehensive. The Crib+ information also specifies a $300 debit-card security bond, regardless of excess level. Treat that card security amount separately from the cover-related bond and the hire payment.
Wicked’s Australian terms dated 23 February 2026 state a $1,000 bond. The Sydney page does not set a universal one-way fee, and the bond is not the full cost of hire. Compare the complete booking quote, including any cover choice, surcharge and route-specific charge.
Check road access before booking
Road access and kilometre allowances are separate questions. An unlimited-kilometre option does not automatically permit driving on every road.
Spaceships says its vehicles may be driven on sealed roads and prohibits closed or restricted roads and other specified locations. JUCY also restricts its vehicles to sealed roads, with reasonable use of access roads shorter than 12 km to recognised commercial campgrounds. JUCY warns that off-road use can void excess cover.
Wicked’s Australian terms distinguish limited and unlimited kilometre arrangements. Limited kilometres allow 250 km per day averaged over the hire term. Unlimited kilometres are subject to the agreement and permitted area, so check both the kilometre allowance and the vehicle’s Area of Use in the booking documents.
Choose a depot and return time
Spaceships is the most flexible of the three for a late or out-of-hours collection: its Sydney page lists 24/7 contactless pickup, and its after-hours instructions require you to select that option when booking. Its return instructions describe a key drop box when the gate is closed. Unless you select the Speedy Return Pack, the van must be refuelled to its pickup level and cleaned.
JUCY requires pickup and campervan return during branch hours. Its Sydney depot moved to 1799 Botany Road on 10 February 2026, and renters cannot leave a personal vehicle on site. Plan your airport transfer and return around the branch’s shorter weekday hours.
Wicked’s Caringbah depot lists Saturday hours, and its Sydney page does not publish Sunday hours. Treat after-hours collection as an arrangement to confirm in advance, rather than a standard service.
