A one-way campervan hire lets you pick up a vehicle in Brisbane and return it in Sydney. As at 16 October 2026, Apollo, Britz and Mighty list a A$200 one-way fee for eligible metro rentals picked up by 31 March 2027; the fee rises to A$205 from 1 April 2027. Spaceships charges no one-way fee for standard Australian depot-to-depot hires. JUCY and Travellers Autobarn require a quote for the route charge.
A listed route does not guarantee a vehicle or depot will be available for your dates. Compare the one-way fee with the booking deposit, security bond and damage excess, which are separate charges or liabilities.
Brisbane to Sydney one-way fees
The fees below are in Australian dollars and cover the one-way component. Vehicle hire and other quote-specific charges are separate.
| Operator | Brisbane to Sydney availability | Published one-way fee or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Spaceships | The company lists Brisbane and Sydney locations and describes the route. | No fee for standard Australian depot-to-depot travel is stated. Relocation deals have separate route and timing conditions. |
| Apollo | Brisbane and Sydney are included in its eligible metro locations; confirm availability for the selected vehicle and dates. | A$200 per hire for pickups and returns among the listed metro locations through 31 March 2027; A$205 from 1 April 2027. |
| Britz | The company lists Brisbane and Sydney branches. | A$200 per hire for the eligible metro route through 31 March 2027; A$205 from 1 April 2027. |
| Mighty | Brisbane and Sydney are included in its eligible metro locations; confirm availability for the selected vehicle and dates. | A$200 per hire through 31 March 2027; A$205 from 1 April 2027 for the listed metro locations. |
| JUCY | One-way hires between specified branches are subject to approval and availability. | The one-way charge is added to the quote. No fixed Brisbane–Sydney amount is published in the reviewed policy. |
| Travellers Autobarn | Its Brisbane information explicitly lists Sydney as a return location. | The current route information does not state a numeric one-way fee. Obtain the route charge in the quote; older fee terms do not establish the current amount. |
Apollo’s Australian Fees and Charges information, and the corresponding Britz and Mighty fee pages, set the metro charges and their effective dates. For Spaceships, the no-fee statement applies to standard depot-to-depot hires, not necessarily to a relocation deal with its own conditions. JUCY’s one-way policy makes approval and availability conditions explicit. Travellers Autobarn’s older terms describe charges that varied by location, season and hire length, but they are not a reliable basis for estimating today’s fee.
Driver, deposit and excess rules
A booking deposit pays towards the rental. A security bond is an amount held against damage liability, while an excess is the amount a renter may have to pay for covered damage. These amounts and rules vary by operator and sometimes by vehicle or protection option.
| Operator | Age and licence information | Booking deposit | Bond or damage liability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spaceships | Drivers must be at least 18 and hold a valid licence, according to its published information. | 20% of the booking. | A $0 excess/bond option is advertised, but the reviewed information does not state its price or a standard bond or excess amount. |
| Apollo | The route information does not state current minimum age or licence rules. | A$250. | A current standard excess and bond amount was not established. Check the selected vehicle’s terms and quote. |
| Britz | The published information does not state a current minimum age rule. | A$250. | For 2WD HiTop and Voyager vehicles, the 2026/27 High Road option is A$55 per day and reduces accident liability to A$0 with no liability deposit. The listed Trailblazer rate is A$65 per day. Exclusions apply. These rates cover travel from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. |
| Mighty | The published information does not state current minimum age or licence rules. | Not established. | Current standard bond and excess amounts were not established. |
| JUCY | Drivers must be aged 18–75 and hold an eligible licence. JUCY accepts a full licence in English and certain restricted licences, including an Australian Green P2. It does not accept learner licences or Australian Red P/P1 licences. | 20% or full prepayment. | The bond depends on the vehicle and chosen excess option. Some options require no bond; any applicable amount is pre-authorised. No universal bond amount applies in the reviewed information. |
| Travellers Autobarn | Its current FAQ says Australian Green P licences are accepted and recommends an international driving licence for many overseas licence holders. The FAQ does not state a current minimum age. | Not established. | Standard Protection has a A$3,500 security bond. Protection Plus is A$35 per day for campervans, with a A$0 security bond. Exclusions can leave the renter liable for more than the selected bond. |
Britz’s High Road rates apply to the stated vehicle types and 2026/27 travel period; they do not remove liability for every kind of damage. Travellers Autobarn also warns that exclusions can leave a renter liable beyond the bond. For both providers, the quoted zero-liability or zero-bond figure applies only under the chosen protection option’s conditions, so read those conditions carefully.
Do not assume that one brand’s rules apply to another, even where companies share a corporate group. Operator acceptance rules also do not replace state licensing requirements.
Brisbane and Sydney depots
These are depot arrangements, and airport-terminal collection is unconfirmed. Use the addresses and hours on the booking confirmation, and arrange your own transfer where needed.
Britz lists its Brisbane branch at 733 Nudgee Road, Northgate, Queensland 4013, and its Sydney branch at 125 Nancy Ellis Leebold Drive, Bankstown Aerodrome, NSW 2200. The Sydney branch has daily opening hours, and collection or return must take place at least one hour before closing. Britz says it does not provide an airport or city transfer to the Sydney branch; it estimates about 20 minutes from the airport by taxi or rideshare.
Spaceships lists its Brisbane depot at 31 Bunya Street, Eagle Farm. Contactless pickup is available, while staff are on site on weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Its Australian location information includes Sydney, but does not give the Sydney address or opening arrangements.
Travellers Autobarn lists its Brisbane depot at Building 2, 360 Nudgee Road, Hendra. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The company says out-of-hours pickup or return can be arranged through reservations. Confirm the Sydney return address and hours for your booking.
JUCY lists Brisbane Airport and Sydney Airport locations, but its one-way policy applies to specified branches and requires approval. Confirm the precise collection and return points. Apollo and Mighty’s fee information confirms the metro route category but does not include branch opening hours or pickup cut-off times.
Compare Brisbane to Sydney hire quotes
For a booking picked up before 1 April 2027, Apollo, Britz and Mighty publish the same A$200 metro one-way charge. Their fee rises to A$205 for pickups from that date. Compare the full vehicle quote as well as the fee: the route charge does not include rental costs, protection options or other quote-specific charges.
Spaceships is the clearest published option on the route fee, with no one-way fee stated for standard depot-to-depot travel. JUCY’s charge depends on the quote and the booking needs approval. Travellers Autobarn publishes the Brisbane-to-Sydney route but does not give a current numeric fee on its route page, so treat that amount as unknown until it appears in your quote.
Before paying, match the quote to your dates and vehicle, then check the rental agreement for the one-way charge, payment schedule, bond, excess and protection exclusions. Confirm the actual depot addresses and opening times, particularly if you plan to collect or return outside staffed hours.
