Before collecting a hire car at Sydney Airport, check your terminal and the hire company’s pickup instructions. Europcar and SIXT publish directions for each terminal. Sydney Airport lists Enterprise as an airport option but does not give its counter or collection details.
This information was current on 17 October 2026. Fees, deposits and some rental conditions depend on the vehicle and booking; Sydney-specific amounts and rules are stated where published.
Compare Sydney Airport car hire options
| Provider | Pickup and return | Age and licence | Fuel and payment | Excess, deposit and airport fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Europcar | At T1, collect the keys from the Arrivals Hall desk, then go to P7 opposite the terminal. At T2 and T3, follow the airport directions to P2 on Keith Smith Avenue. Europcar says its domestic location returned in-terminal on 1 November 2025, with no shuttle required. Its Sydney guide lists staffed hours as 06:00–23:00 daily and says after-hours keys can be left in the T1 or T2 counter key box. | Europcar’s Sydney guide does not specify a minimum age or accepted licence types. | Debit cards are available only for selected vehicle types. Europcar’s guide does not publish a Sydney-specific fuel-return rule or full payment policy. | Europcar’s Sydney guide does not list Sydney-specific excess, deposit or airport-fee amounts. Check the live quote and rental agreement. |
| SIXT | At T1, use the arrivals counter and walk about 200 m to the car park. Return to the marked SIXT bays on Arrival Court; return keys to the counter or the after-hours box in bay 20. At T2 and T3, the counter is in arrivals opposite the baggage carousels, with collection and return in the arrivals-level car park on Keith Smith Avenue. Staffed hours are 06:30–22:30 daily; vehicle return is available outside staffed hours. | Minimum age is 21. Drivers aged 21–24 inclusive can access the standard vehicle range and pay a daily age surcharge. Some vehicle categories require drivers to be 25 or older. The licence must have been held for at least one year, though requirements vary by vehicle class. A licence without English text or a photo needs an International Driving Permit or certified English translation. | Full-to-full fuel: return the car with the same fuel level as at pickup. A shortfall attracts the fuel cost plus a service fee. SIXT says the renter needs a credit card in their name; cash is not accepted. Debit cards are allowed only for some locations and vehicles, so Sydney acceptance is not established by the general terms. | SIXT’s Australian terms say the deposit or card hold varies by vehicle and location and is shown in the booking details. They also describe a percentage-based Premium Location Fee for airports and certain other locations, disclosed in the Rental Details Document. The terms do not state a fixed Sydney fee or vehicle-specific damage excess amount. |
| Enterprise | Enterprise and Sydney Airport list the brand as an airport option, but the airport’s operational car-rental directions do not give an Enterprise counter, pickup, return, opening-hours or after-hours procedure. Confirm the exact location in the booking details. | Enterprise’s Australian rental information says renters must prove they are over 25 and bring a valid licence, valid ID and a credit or debit card. Its broader Asia-Pacific information gives an age range that varies by country and vehicle class, so the Sydney booking terms should settle the applicable rule. | The reviewed official material does not establish Sydney Airport fuel-return terms or local card conditions. | Sydney-specific excess, deposit and airport-fee terms and amounts are not established in the reviewed material. Use the Enterprise booking details and local rental agreement. |
The brands operate under different corporate structures: Europcar is part of Europcar Mobility Group, SIXT operates as SIXT SE, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car is part of Enterprise Holdings, Inc.
Find pickup directions for your terminal
Sydney Airport’s car-rental directions distinguish T1 International from the T2 and T3 domestic terminals. Follow the directions for the terminal where you will collect the car, rather than assuming the same counter or car park serves the whole airport.
For Europcar, T1 customers collect keys at the arrivals desk before going to P7. Domestic customers use P2 on Keith Smith Avenue; Europcar says its domestic counter returned in-terminal from 1 November 2025. For SIXT, T1 collection involves a walk of about 200 m to its car park, while T2 and T3 collection is in the arrivals-level car park on Keith Smith Avenue. SIXT offers a return option outside staffed hours, although its counter is staffed only during the hours in the table.
Enterprise’s airport listing confirms it is offered as an airport option, but does not tell customers where to go after landing. Do not assume it uses another company’s counter or car park.
Check car hire prices and conditions
A quoted rental price does not establish the total amount held on a card or the renter’s maximum liability for damage. The excess is the amount the renter may have to pay for covered damage; the deposit or card hold is security taken or reserved during the hire. For SIXT, the terms make the deposit vehicle- and location-specific, and disclose the airport Premium Location Fee in the booking details. The reviewed official information does not give a Sydney-specific amount for either.
For Europcar and Enterprise, the reviewed Sydney material does not establish an airport surcharge, deposit or excess amount. Compare the live Sydney quotes and read the rental agreement before booking. Check the selected vehicle’s fuel rule and card eligibility in its terms. Check there for any age surcharge as well; these details are not confirmed for every provider and booking.
