Britz and maui have a seasonal depot at 220 Stuart Highway in Alice Springs, open from 1 April to 30 November. It is about 18 km from Alice Springs Airport, and neither company provides an airport transfer. JUCY has no Alice Springs pickup or return location.
Road access depends on the rental brand and vehicle type. Confirm your route before booking.

Branch details below come from the operators’ official pages, checked on 14 October 2026. JUCY’s age and road rules are from its terms and help information dated 2026.
| Provider | Alice Springs service and access | Age and licence | Outback roads | One-way hire and excess |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Britz | Depot at 220 Stuart Highway. Open daily from 9 am during the published season, 1 April to 30 November; closed 1 December to 31 March. Collect and return at least one hour before closing. | Britz’s Australian guidance says drivers of other RV types must be at least 21 and hold a full, current licence valid for the booking. Drivers whose licence is not in English need an accredited translation or International Driving Permit. Check the rule for the specific vehicle class. | Britz 2WD campers are restricted to sealed roads, apart from well-maintained access roads under 12 km to recognised commercial campgrounds or major tourist attractions. No comprehensive 4WD route permission was established in the reviewed terms. | One-way fees may apply, depending on the route and booking. The branch page does not publish a current damage excess or protection price. |
| maui | Depot at 220 Stuart Highway, with the same published operating season and hours as Britz. Collect and return at least one hour before closing. | The maui terms page identifies documents for hires from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, but the detailed minimum-age and licence clauses were not verified here. Confirm the terms for your vehicle and booking. | The detailed road clauses in the current terms were not verified. Get maui’s written confirmation for any planned gravel or remote roads; Britz’s permissions do not apply to maui vehicles. | One-way fees may apply. The reviewed branch information does not establish a current damage excess or protection price. |
| JUCY | JUCY’s Australian locations page lists Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, but not Alice Springs. No local pickup or return arrangement is listed. | JUCY’s booking terms effective 1 May 2026 set authorised-driver age at 18 to under 75. The driver must hold and carry a valid licence appropriate to the vehicle. These rules do not establish Alice Springs availability. | JUCY’s 20 July 2026 guidance restricts vehicles to sealed roads, with a limited exception for reasonable access roads under 12 km to recognised commercial campgrounds. It excludes gravel and off-road use. | One-way hires between listed locations require approval and availability, with the fee added to the quote. This policy does not establish an Alice Springs route. |
Getting to the Alice Springs depot
Britz and maui’s Alice Springs branches are town depots, not airport-terminal pickup points. Both operators direct customers to arrange their own taxi or rideshare from the airport; neither provides an airport or city transfer. Their branch information gives the distance as about 18 km, with maui listing 17.9 km.
Neither depot provides customer parking. The operators refer to secure parking at Alice Springs Airport, about 18 km away, but that is a separate parking option, not a vehicle handover point. Allow time to reach the depot and arrange collection or return at least an hour before closing.
The published branch season runs from 1 April through 30 November. Both depots are listed as closed from 1 December through 31 March. maui also lists closures on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Australia Day and Good Friday; its page specifies Good Friday as 26 March 2027. Check your booking confirmation for the opening arrangements on your travel date.
Check road permissions by vehicle
A 2WD Britz campervan has a narrow gravel-road exception: it may use a well-maintained access road under 12 km leading to a recognised commercial campground or major tourist attraction. That exception does not cover longer gravel routes or remote tracks. Britz also says it can restrict destinations according to road or weather conditions, route distance and rental duration. Unauthorised travel to restricted areas can void the liability option.
A Britz 4WD label does not confirm permission to drive every unsealed or remote road. Get confirmation for each route you plan to travel. For maui, obtain its current road rules in writing before booking an itinerary that includes gravel or remote roads. JUCY’s published gravel restriction means its vehicles do not suit such an itinerary, even where a JUCY location is available.
Confirm the full hire cost
Britz lists a $250 booking deposit. The remaining rental amount is due 30 days before pickup; bookings made less than 30 days before pickup require full payment. This booking deposit is separate from the vehicle-damage excess. Britz says the liability deposit is paid by debit or credit card and that branches do not accept cash, but the reviewed Alice Springs page does not state the deposit amount.
The published information does not establish current numerical damage excesses or protection prices for Britz or maui. Their one-way fees are also quote-specific. Ask for an itemised quote showing the pickup and return locations, one-way charge, damage excess, any excess-reduction option, liability deposit and any other booking-specific charges. JUCY’s one-way fee also depends on an approved route and appears in the quote.
