JUCY, Maui and Britz list Cairns depots, but none describes collection from a counter inside Cairns Airport. Pickup arrangements and one-way fees vary by brand and rental terms. Driver rules and road permissions do too. Maui and Britz terms apply to pickups from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JUCY | 55 Dutton Street, Cairns. The branch lists campervans and motorhomes. Its page directs airport arrivals to taxi, rideshare or public transport. Published hours are 9 am–3 pm Monday to Friday and 9 am–2 pm at weekends. | One-way rentals are permitted, but the Cairns page does not set out a fee or list all available routes. The charge and destination need to be confirmed in the booking quote. | JUCY’s help information sets age and licence requirements for drivers. Drivers need a full licence in English, or an eligible Australian or New Zealand P2 licence. Learner, red-P/P1 and other probationary licences are not accepted. A non-English licence needs an International Driving Permit or certified translation alongside the original. JUCY describes a 20% booking deposit, with the balance due at collection, or full payment when booking. | The security bond is a separate card authorisation from the booking deposit. JUCY says its amount varies by vehicle category and excess-reduction option; there is no single amount for every rental. | Vehicles are for sealed roads, with a stated exception for reasonable use of maintained access roads under 12 km leading to recognised commercial campgrounds. Off-road driving can void excess cover. |
| Maui | 419 Sheridan Street, Cairns. The published Australian range includes 2-berth, 2+1-berth, 4-berth and 6-berth motorhomes. The branch is open daily from 1 April to 30 September, then Monday to Saturday from 1 October to 31 March. Collection and return must be at least an hour before closing. Maui offers no airport or city transfers and no customer parking inside the branch grounds. | For rentals picked up in Cairns and returned within the listed group of Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide, the published fee is AU$200. The fee rises to AU$205 for pickups from 1 April 2027. Separate fees apply to routes involving Darwin, Broome, Alice Springs or Perth. | The Cairns branch page states a AU$250 booking deposit. The balance is due 30 days before pickup; bookings made less than 30 days ahead require full payment at booking. The published branch information does not establish an age threshold. | A separate liability deposit is payable at pickup by credit or debit card; prepaid credit cards are not accepted. The exact liability deposit and excess depend on the applicable rental terms and cover. No amount is stated here. | Rules depend on whether the booked vehicle is 2WD or 4WD. Some Queensland routes require permission. Cape York in the wet-season restriction period, 1 December to 31 May, and the Old Telegraph Track are prohibited in the stated cases; the CREB Track is also prohibited for 4WD. |
| Britz | 419 Sheridan Street, Cairns, the same address published for Maui. Britz lists 2WD and 4WD campers. Britz publishes the same seasonal days of operation as Maui, with pickup and return at least an hour before closing. Britz offers no airport or city transfer and has no customer parking inside the branch grounds. | For pickups through 31 March 2027, the published fee is AU$200 for rentals originating in Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart or Adelaide and returned within the listed locations. From 1 April 2027, the fee rises to AU$205. A separate fee applies to rentals originating in Darwin, Broome, Alice Springs or Perth. | Britz requires a current, full licence. Drivers of its standard RV types must be at least 21. Exceptions listed for certain other brands and models do not establish an exception for the Britz Cairns fleet. A licence not in English requires an accredited translation or International Driving Permit. The Cairns page states a AU$250 booking deposit; the balance is due 30 days before pickup, with full payment required for bookings made less than 30 days ahead. | The liability deposit is payable at pickup by credit or debit card, not a prepaid credit card. The Cairns page does not give its amount, so the booking deposit should not be mistaken for the vehicle-liability bond or excess. | Some Queensland destinations require permission. Cape York north of Laura or Cooktown requires permission outside the prohibited season; Cape York from 1 December to 31 May, the CREB Track and the Old Telegraph Track are prohibited for 4WD. Britz requires drivers to nominate planned travel to restricted destinations at pickup. |
The Maui and Britz one-way fees apply to the routes and pickup dates specified in their published schedules. Other charges may apply, and JUCY does not publish a comparable Cairns fee on its location page. Check the route and dates shown in the itemised quote rather than assuming every one-way journey is permitted at the listed price.
Plan the depot transfer
All three depots are off-airport. JUCY’s Cairns address is on Dutton Street, and its page directs customers to arrange their own trip from the airport. Maui and Britz share the Sheridan Street address, roughly 4 km from Cairns Airport, and state that they do not provide airport or city transfers. Their pages also say customer parking is unavailable within the branch grounds.
Maui and Britz are open on Sundays from 1 April to 30 September and closed on Sundays from 1 October to 31 March. Both require collection and return at least one hour before closing. JUCY publishes different hours, including a 2 pm weekend closing time. The depot’s opening hours determine when you can collect or return the vehicle.
The vehicle lists show each brand’s range; they do not confirm which vehicle category is assigned to a particular booking date. Confirm the booked vehicle category and pickup location in the rental confirmation.
Check the bond and excess separately
A booking deposit reserves or pays towards the rental. The bond, also called a liability deposit or security bond, is held separately at pickup to cover the renter’s potential liability. The excess is the amount the renter could owe for covered damage, subject to the agreement and any selected reduction option.
For JUCY, the published help information says the bond varies by vehicle category and excess-reduction option. Maui and Britz state the AU$250 booking deposit on their Cairns pages, but give no liability-deposit amount there. The booking deposit does not indicate the liability deposit or excess. Check the rental agreement and quote for the exact amount attached to the vehicle and cover selected. The published branch details compared here do not establish a single mileage or child-restraint term for all three brands, so check those items against the vehicle-specific quote and agreement.
Match the route to the vehicle
A 4WD vehicle remains subject to Cape York track restrictions. Maui and Britz set separate rules for 2WD and 4WD vehicles, require permission for some routes and prohibit travel on others. For both brands, Cape York restrictions include a seasonal prohibition from 1 December to 31 May; the Old Telegraph Track is also prohibited. Their 4WD rules prohibit the CREB Track. Route approval and restrictions apply to the specific rental agreement.
JUCY’s published rule is simpler: use sealed roads, apart from reasonable use of maintained access roads under 12 km to recognised commercial campgrounds. Because unauthorised or prohibited driving can affect excess cover, get permission before planning a route that falls outside the stated rules. Conditions and route permissions are distinct from live road closures; check current Queensland road and weather information before departure.
